This piece was the end result of an independent research elective based on Japanese craft and aesthetic. For several weeks I researched the subject through reading, interviewing, sketching, and making.
Hand-crafted from Alaskan yellow cedar.
I started off with sketching, then continued the design process through scaled model-making to work out more specific joinery and geometry.
